Rock Camp is a project of Portman’s Music Academy. It is based on a program that has been running for over 20 years. Our Mission: To give young players the opportunity to learn to play the music they love in a band through qualified coaching in an atmosphere of mutual learning and respect. We will explore the interests of the participants which may include all styles of music from indie to metal, classic rock to worship. Please note: Rock camp participants must have a minimum of one year musical experience.   Daily Program Play in a band everyday Join up with other players of your level and interest Work with a seasoned, professional coach to learn the basics of: Arranging songs - make them work for your band Rehearsal techniques - learn songs quickly Concert performance - smoke, lights, action! Learn different styles Everyday you will have the option of a conducted jam session where you will explore your choice of Indie Rock Blues Classic Rock Funk and R&B Christian Rock Unplugged Take your playing to the next level with a lesson everyday Play what you want to play, only better with a lesson everyday on your instrument – at your level! “I played in bands before, but not with guys this good. The concert felt like a real rock show with smoke and lights and so many people there to hear us. I have played in two bands since Rock Camp, and I’m coming back.” -14 year old guitarist   Registration is limited. Positions will fill quickly, and students will be admitted to Rock Camp on a first come first served basis. Don’t be disappointed. Please note: All participants are asked to come to Portman’s on Friday June 18th for pre-camp evaluation. Drop in between 10 and 11 am. FEES: $225 for the week due at registration.
